Rainy Day Lessons: When Nobody Shows Up

Last Saturday it rained. Not poured — just that annoying drizzle that makes everyone stay inside.
I made $2.
My first instinct was to pack up and feel sorry for myself. Instead, I stayed. I redesigned my sign. I practiced my pitch. I rearranged my cups into a pyramid (it fell over twice).
When Mr. Greene finally walked by with his dog, I gave him my best line: *"Cup of sunshine? It's on the house — you're the only one brave enough out here."*
He paid full price anyway. And told three neighbors.
Next Saturday? Sunny. Best day I've ever had.
**Lesson:** bad days build the muscle for good ones.
